Video Games: The Movie

Video Games: The Movie

1. What are some of the reasons video games were successful? What makes a game popular?

Video games can be successful is because they are telling stories, they fit to everyone in the world, and they let people experience differently from modern life within gaming. They are popular because people are able to change how plots go, and how the ending of stories should look like. In novels, poems, movies, and videos the people are audiences, games provide the opportunity to let them be the editor of this form of literature.

2. What are some of the reasons why the video game industry crashed in the 1980s?

The industries at that decade discovered that video game this area can earn much more money than every other areas after seeing the success of Atari. Therefore more and more companies rushing to complete coding games, this decreased the quality of game, and this let them be clear that the thought of consumers at that time would just accept every game they made is wrong.

3. Do you think video games are a form of art? Why or why not?

The truth of video games are that they are a form of art. Consumers buy games that have more beautiful landscapes. Nowadays there are more games that are not famous in the performance or operation fluency, people buy games that they can take exclamatory screen shots. For instance, one game I played called Hyper Light Drifter. It is a game that there are plenty of players admire the company that shows the beauty of how pixel games are able to reach.

4. What is the next evolution in video games? What are the challenges that need to be solved in the next generation of games?

Next evolution in video games is the augmented reality, which is known as AR. I do not think wearing equipment like glasses is the final result of AR. AR should let players experience that they are freely living in the game they are playing. The specific equipment such as gun or remote controllers that held in hands. My predictions of AR are that there are machines that can feel people's brain wave and can be controlled directly from brain to games without any blockade and experience like the five senses in daily life.

Scratch Level 2 - Racing Game

https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/188429538/ Instruction: Use the arrow keys to control the white car and round two circles to complete the game <- and -> are controlling direction /\ and \/ are controlling the speed of car (don't need to hold the bottom to keep the speed) Opinions: I set the background to be green grass and I followed the tutorial which makes the car to spin when going out of the range of the road. Difficulty: I am not practical to Scratch, so I have to spend more time on practising and copying some codes from the tutorial video. (I can't answer this question detailed enough because it's long time ago since I made this game and I forgot to post this to Blogger.) Changes: I basically changed the color and some details from the tutorial. (I can't remember much about it) There's an interesting bug. If I keep increasing speed and let the car running at the edge, I can still win the game spending less time.
