Indie Game: The Movie.

1. What are some of the difference between "big games" and "independent games" in terms of style/concepts and how they are made?

The big games are games that made by large companies, and the independent games are made by a small group which usually only two to three people. Big games are more focus on PVP, while independent games are concentrate on playing by one player.

2. What are some of the difficulties the developers in the film had to overcome?

Game developers have to overcome many problems. They have to deal with money. Many developers could not make a good game just because they are run out of funding. Also, the independent game developers have to solve many different difficulties on their own. Thus, they do not have time (and money) to social with people or even to get along with their families.

3. What do you think you would like about working on an indie (independent) game? What do you think you might not like?

I would like that the independent workers are free when compare to big organisation employees and I would like about putting my thoughts in to games. However, I do not like that I would need to work on a game that takes so long but still not sure about the result of releasing. It is like a gamble.

4. What is some advice you could offer to someone who is trying to create their own game, based on what you learned in the film?

I would suggest that person can be more awareness to be game developer. My advice is that stay creating games as an interest. Due to the uncertain future of full-time developing games, find a job and create games at leisure time is a better idea. Also, the pressure of releasing game would reduce because it is not your whole career.

5. For the developers, what is the best part of completing the creation of a game?

the best part for the independent game developers is to see not only people's review on game websites, but also, and most importantly, the game videos that how people react to their games.

Final Project Proposal & Journal

May 17, Thur. Plan: I plan to make a project about pixel art which I've done in start of the year. It would look like the login page of a game called "Hyper Light Drifter". High resolution, not only one frame, length longer I planned to have multiple frames and try to vividly show lighting effects and maybe have a background music through the whole project. An overview of your project. What are you learning about? What will you be submitting when you're done? learn adding vocal, have more effects on screen and maybe try some other new skills Links to the resources you intend to use. I'll fill this question in after I find all links I need.  A description of how you foresee adding in your own ideas. mega bass start and the GIF suddenly appear on the screen.  The main steps in completing your project (maybe around 4-5?). 1. Figure out skills that I have to learn in my final project (and learn them or have video links of course) 2. draw ou...

Scratch Level 2 - Racing Game

https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/188429538/ Instruction: Use the arrow keys to control the white car and round two circles to complete the game <- and -> are controlling direction /\ and \/ are controlling the speed of car (don't need to hold the bottom to keep the speed) Opinions: I set the background to be green grass and I followed the tutorial which makes the car to spin when going out of the range of the road. Difficulty: I am not practical to Scratch, so I have to spend more time on practising and copying some codes from the tutorial video. (I can't answer this question detailed enough because it's long time ago since I made this game and I forgot to post this to Blogger.) Changes: I basically changed the color and some details from the tutorial. (I can't remember much about it) There's an interesting bug. If I keep increasing speed and let the car running at the edge, I can still win the game spending less time.
