Final Project Proposal & Journal

May 17, Thur.
Plan:
I plan to make a project about pixel art which I've done in start of the year.
It would look like the login page of a game called "Hyper Light Drifter".
High resolution, not only one frame, length longer
I planned to have multiple frames and try to vividly show lighting effects and maybe have a background music through the whole project.

  • An overview of your project. What are you learning about? What will you be submitting when you're done?
learn adding vocal, have more effects on screen and maybe try some other new skills
  • Links to the resources you intend to use.
I'll fill this question in after I find all links I need.
  • A description of how you foresee adding in your own ideas.
mega bass start and the GIF suddenly appear on the screen.
  • The main steps in completing your project (maybe around 4-5?).
1. Figure out skills that I have to learn in my final project (and learn them or have video links of course)
2. draw out the basic frame
3. make multiple frames and have some other effects
4. vocal in
5. adjust details

  • A timeline explaining how many classes you expect to spend on each main step of your project. See the images below for a May-June calendar showing how many classes you have to complete your project:
probably spend a few classes on figuring out how to achieve my goal in the project and I'll start it in the start of June.

May 22, Wed:
I searched for tutorial of pixel art on Photoshop just to remind what I've forgotten and learn about new skills in Photoshop. .

Start setting up some basics for the final project in Photoshop.
I've met a difficulty. There are two grids on by background, and one of them is not matching to actual pixels when I set the pencil to have only one pixel.  This would make my work hard to do since it is an pixel art. It had been solved when Ms. Vesik cancelled the grid showing (View-show-grid). Even though she doesn't know why there is an original grid that automatically fits to the background, it's solved.

May 29, Tues
dividing different area to paint, start drawing some details in the project.
It is a little bit hard to equally divide area in short period that the project is 1920 x 1080, but it only takes time to complete.

May 31, Thur.
drawing the main things in project, structure starts showing.

June 4, 6
Finishing basic structure, start thinking about the effects that can be done faster (my original thought is to change the concentration of light to have a "breathing effect", but it will take too much time)
I might just add great amount of frames to make colour changing smoother like rainbow colour.

June 8
70% done basic structure of light breathing effect that is surrounding the major thing.
have to do: list of colour for "breathing" and 100% done basic structure

June 12, Tues
Starting rough structure of breathing, but feels like I can not finish it before the deadline (as completed as what I expected)

final:
My project is nit done yet, but there's no time left for me to complete it.
Thus, I just handed it in.

Scratch Level 2 - Racing Game

https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/188429538/ Instruction: Use the arrow keys to control the white car and round two circles to complete the game <- and -> are controlling direction /\ and \/ are controlling the speed of car (don't need to hold the bottom to keep the speed) Opinions: I set the background to be green grass and I followed the tutorial which makes the car to spin when going out of the range of the road. Difficulty: I am not practical to Scratch, so I have to spend more time on practising and copying some codes from the tutorial video. (I can't answer this question detailed enough because it's long time ago since I made this game and I forgot to post this to Blogger.) Changes: I basically changed the color and some details from the tutorial. (I can't remember much about it) There's an interesting bug. If I keep increasing speed and let the car running at the edge, I can still win the game spending less time.

Video Games: The Movie

Video Games: The Movie 1. What are some of the reasons video games were successful? What makes a game popular?     Video games can be successful is because they are telling stories, they fit to everyone in the world, and they let people experience differently from modern life within gaming. They are popular because people are able to change how plots go, and how the ending of stories should look like. In novels, poems, movies, and videos the people are audiences, games provide the opportunity to let them be the editor of this form of literature.  2. What are some of the reasons why the video game industry crashed in the 1980s?     The industries at that decade discovered that video game this area can earn much more money than every other areas after seeing the success of Atari. Therefore more and more companies rushing to complete coding games, this decreased the quality of game, and this let them be clear that the thought of consumers at that ti...
